  • 10:32 AM Simon McGarr - Yep. That’s what the nation desperately needs. A government of permanent FF leadership.
  • 10:35 AM Simon McGarr - Tuned into the live feed. had to flee due to demented speaker urging gov of national unity as solution to problem of confidence in gov. Said confidence fall creates risk of obscuring ‘Heroic Efforts of Ministers”.
  • 10:39 AM Suzy Byrne - Cut-throat chairing this morning – no time to wrap up. Your time is up and thats it. Could’ve done with some of that last night!
  • 10:39 AM stephencrowley - I care very little for this motion. why not cabinet seats for the greens… rather than giving them to FG

  • 11:10 AM stephencrowley - these long speeches from varied sources really do affirm our policy in the grass roots of the party. which is important if changes are going to come from the ground up.
  • 11:10 AM Simon McGarr - Ok, I’m an outsider here. But is anyone else feeling this is a Convention haunted by the Government That Dare Not Speak Its Name? I’m not feeling a connection between the daily news and the speakers from the stage. It’s like I’ve tuned in to a parallel universe convention.

  • 10:30 PM Simon McGarr - Well, the curtain has fallen on this corner of the internet. The Convention has ended, the Local election candidates have tucked away their speeches. All but one of them now know that Noel Whelan and Terry Prone consider them losers. One TD has seemingly come down with the colliwobbles while the others leave having had their photographs taken and with applause ringing in their ears. There will doubtless be time for more reflection on blogs and elsewhere in the coming days. But, for the moment, I’d just like to say thanks to the moderation team- they know who they were, mostly- for spectacular work throughout the weekend. And I’d like to acknowledge Damien Connon and the Green Party administration’s willingness to embrace the liveblog form while letting go of its content. It’s a brave move for a political party, particularly one in government. But I hope that the ebb and flow of comment beyond the party membership here across the last few days has shown it can pay dividends for those who can bear the uncertainty.
